Landing gear shock strut question

1) I have fabricated short struts (J-3 type) where two small round leather bumpers are attatched at inner ends. Does anybody know what type of adhesive to be used to attach these leather bumers?

2) What kind of lubricant should be used inside of the shock strut?

Any help would be appreciated.
