I am looking for a J3 but chose to opt for one with electric for avionics, since I fly in an area with overlapping Class B and C airspace all around. I know you can work around the encoding transponder requirement, but it is a hassle on the East Coast. I would opt for a permanent (legal) Tx installation.

I am not familiar with the 65 hp engine, but know the later, higher HP engines can have generator/alternator. Can gen/alt be fitted to a 65?
