I flew my Arrow to Oshkosh last year and camped in the Vintage Aircraft Camping section. I am building an RV-14 and am hopeful about flying it to the show next year. I don't have a good excuse to go this year other than cashing in my coupon from volunteering last year.
I have a work thing the week of the show so I don't know if I'll be able to make it. But if that clears up, I'm considering taking the Cub. My route is 663 nm to Ripon with 5 fuel stops and almost certainly a camp-out at the last of those, 52 nm short of Ripon, so I can get in line for the Fisk arrival early in the day.
Has anyone who has flown into Oshkosh in a Cub share tips about dealing with the unique challenges compared with the much newer Pipers? Cruise speed 25 knots below the 90 KIAS arrival procedure. Zero forward visibility on the ground. Etc.
