Well, It happened to me this morning. First time. I was starting the L-4 to go to an airport open house for a display. I checked the switch was off and the throttle was back, I nailed the tail down, chocked the wheels and primed it. Pulled it through and she started.

BOY does that get your attention at 0530! No coffee for me this morning.

I had just changed the oil and cleaned the screen a couple of days ago. I suppose I must have knocked it off in the wild gyrations I go through getting the screen out and back in there. It always costs me about one hour, three skinned knuckles and several new curses to get everything back on and safety wired properly.

I should have checked everything more closely before putting the cowl back on. They woulda' called that "Inadequate Preflight" in the accident report.
