Hi Everyone

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I've recently imported into Australia a 1939 J3, and I'm busy ironing out all the kinks.

One of the problems I'm having relates to the old registration numbers which have been painted onto the fuselage of the Cub.

The Cub was restored and covered in ceconite back in 2004.

In order to get the new registration numbers on the fuselage, I've temporarily put a vinyl sticker over the old numbers and then stuck another vinyl sticker over that which has the new numbers, but it looks absolutely terrible and I feel as though I'm letting all my fellow Cub flyers down in the process, see attached pic (please forgive me for committing this unspeakable horror to my Cub).

I've been advised by some reliable people that in order to properly fix this problem, I would have to sand down the old numbers using an extremely fine grit sand paper, then respray yellow over that and then after that I could apply the registration numbers.

Has anyone on this forum had any experience performing this procedure on ceconite?

As usual, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Ivan
