Front seat steel straps

Just about to fit the front seat. It has 2 steel straps welded at the front corners and angled back to meet in the middle. They are drilled were they meet to take a bolt. Can't find any reference to them anywhere, and can't see what they do or attach to. If there were 4 of them meeting in the middle they'd stop you falling on to the elevator torque tube if the seat canvas collapses, but with only 2 that's not going to work,

Any thoughts?
