I just passed my private check ride yesterday and am excited to officially be a private pilot! Yes, I was able to find a DPE who was willing to sit shoulder to shoulder with me for a couple hours and I apparently made him confident enough in my ability that now I can go learn how to fly!

I’m extremely blessed in the sense that I have a plane (a 1978 Wag-Aero Cuby) to fly. I had an agreement with my grandfather last June if I got my license he would give me the plane. Unfortunately he passed away 2 weeks ago today and isn’t here to see me achieve this, but I know how meaningful it was that I was following through on my license. Although it’s not the real thing, it’s pretty damn fun to fly and most people I bump into don’t know the difference anyways.

That being said, I’m curious to hear what others have done during their first few hours with their license. I’m excited to breach that 25 mile limit and get a little further from home this weekend as the weather looks perfect in CT. I figure it’s a good opportunity to practice my social distancing as well.
