I am installing new clamps on my muffler and tailpipe and the muffler
has holes for the 1/4 " studs on the clamps to help alignment and to
keep the muffler from rotating . On my tailpipe there are no holes to
keep the pipe from slipping or rotating .

The plane has 250 hrs since rebuild with a clamp with no small stud
keeping the tailpipe on by clamp pressure only. There are no holes
drilled in the tailpipe or the muffler where the tailpipe goes into .

Does the tailpipe and muffler need to be drilled to accept the
new Univair clamp with the stud so it will align and not slip ?
