Went for a fly today. Weather warmed up to 42 degrees. Oil temp got up to the bottom of the 'green' arc by half way thru the flight. Last summer I ran accross someone with airsoop that was just a couple inches tall. Said when they when to southern California in the summer the engine ran sort of hot. My scoops are taller than I remember the ones on my earlier J3s. Fully 8 inches tall....almost straight up from the outside mounting screws....then from there over to the cylinder base mount. Good for summer; maybe to much air for winter. The shielded spark plugs are entirely inside the scoops with no holes or bumps required to make room for them. Are mine overlarge? Too cool for winter?
