I have a 45-pound Samoyed whose first day with me was highlighted by flying home in a crate in the baggage compartment of a Cherokee and who joyfully rode in the back seat of the Arrow for several hours out and back for our Christmas trip. I would like to take her with in the J-3 as well but I am struggling to find a workable solution. I built two cable tethers to attach to the front seat lower back corners and then latch onto her walking harness to keep her in the seat. It worked fine except that she didn't want to sit there so she ended up with her back paws on the seat and her front paws between the seat and the fuselage wall, down by the right rear rudder pedal, with her head hanging out the door. It was adorable but I didn't want to try flying that way.

So now I'm thinking of building a platform of some sort to extend in front of the front seat so she has more front-to-back room to sit or lie down. But before I go constructing anything, I thought I should ask here. Surely I'm not the first person to attempt this. I know from researching online that people have done it with the rear seats in Super Cubs. How about in our J-3's, though?
