I just got back from Yakima with N998SC. With ambient temps in the 90's, oil temperatures run at or near red line. Reset baffle seals and switched to Exxon Elite, but oil still runs 210-215 degrees plus at cruise power (2525 rpm is a smooth spot). Even at altitude leaned for best power, the oil temperatures runs above 200. The only time oil temp ever run at the top of the green was flying in freezing weather out of SLC on the way back from Washington. Is my engine running exceptionally hot or do all SportCubs require a constant eye on the oil temperature gauge? Any suggestions for cooling off engine besides moving back to Alaska?
