Can I legally Swap Valve Covers?

I have "Millenium" Valve covers on my J-3 and would like to put on the older Cast Aluminum ones that used to be on it. The Owner gave them to me when I bought the plane and they have been just sitting in the Hangar. I ordered new gaskets via Spruce and would like to swap them out soon but don't know if this is something that has to be done via an A&P.

The Shiny Covers just look out of place, would like to get back to the "Vintage" look
