Attached is a link to a film on the early M1 Rocket Launcher. This is a different animal than the one Carpenter attached to his L-4, but it will give you an idea of how they worked. I have one of the early 2 grip models shown here, but it is not complete.

The picture I just received from Richard Haynes. I don't know how he keeps coming up with these great photos.
