Barn Cub

Some of may have seen my post on FB but I’ll post it here as well. I restored a cub about 10 years ago and documented it here. Very thankful for the help!

The local FBO got a cold call from a rancher in North Centeral SD wanting to sell a J-3. They passed his number to me and I showed up with cash. It definitely wasn’t free!! Check out the farmers coat!

I took my son and cousin and we literally drug it out of the hangar after we got the wings off. We had to shovel to get the small section of the doors even open.

After I got it home I discovered it’s a L4J. Was in the CAP until 61. L4 Frame work is all still there and the fuselage is in great shape. C-85 and prop look great. Has the nice SS exhaust. Bad news is that the wood wings are in bad shape.

Ive gone back and forth trying to decide if I want to do the restoration??? I have it listed for sale but part of me would hate to see it go! We will see what happens! Would be wonderful to see it in silver with stars and bars!!
