Just read in EAA Sport Pilot that American Champion is coming out with a new 7EC certified under part 23 which is eligible for light sport pilots to fly. Looked on their website, and read preliminary specs. Continental O-200 engine, 100 HP, max gross weight 1320 pounds, empty weight 950 pounds (typical), useful load 370 pounds, payload with full fuel 262 pounds.

Unfortunately that does not compare too well with empty weight of 824 pounds for CC Sport or Legend Cub empty weight of 850 pounds. It will be interesting to see how it goes over.
