Why is it that so many ads that list and auto fuel STC state that auto fuel was never used? Why did they waste the money on the STC if it was never used. This peeve is only second to seeing a 70 year old airplane advertised as ALWAYS hangared.

One reason perhaps is the possibility that, on occasion, ethanol added fuel was used, whether intentional or not. I have the auto fuel STC and choose not to run auto gas, however the STC is there if I need it. Gary

Or maybe the aircraft was purchased with the stc and the current owner doesn't want to run car gas. GUP

Hey! NC42257! I used to fly that Cub when I was stationed at Beale. (North of Sacremento) She was at the flying club at Natomas Field (Now Closed.) She's a nice flying airplane. Now that I think about it, that was the first J-3 I ever flew!

I can't recall seeing an ad for a 70 year old airplane described as always hangared, unless referring to the aircraft's history with the current owner. It seems a moot point since one would assume that an aircraft of that vintage would have undergone at least one total restoration. Gary

Gary,
Here are two in a row on Trade-A-Plane tonight. Happens frequently. Probably means since restoration but they don't really say that. And, there is always the chance that the history is known and it is true, like the one that was recently brought to light in Texas. Of course, being hangared with no care for 50 plus years did not protect that one.

Piper J-Series, Cub, etc. 118 Wellington NV $32,500
1939 J-4A, 118HRS TT since restoration, new struts and forks, always hangared. An award winner. $32,500. NV/(775) 772-9179. (775) 772-9179

1946 Piper J-Series, Cub, etc. 1630 330 Norcross GA $33,000
1946 J3 C65, 1630-TT, 330 SMOH. Always hangared, metal spar, great condition. $33,000. GA/(404) 242-7573. http://tappix.com/816776 (404) 242-7573

Chuck, I interpret those ads and others like them to mean "since I've own the airplane". How would anyone know (and guarantee) the type and duration of storage during the entire life of a 60+ year old airplane? Gary
