Interesting how the ribs are different from the later "standard" ribs.

Hodakaguy, is the carb heat set up with the original Push On - Pull OFF configuration?

Yep the carb heat is on the right side and it's Pull for ON and Push for Off

What is the round hole in the right lower cowl for (looks like an oil filter)?

That Continental A-50 with "up" exhaust is a dry sump engine. That is the oil cap/dip stick that is located on the seperate oil tank.
