1938 Hamilton, Ontario, Canadian assembled Piper J2's & J3's

Does anyone have any information about the original Canadian Piper Cubs that were built in the USA and then shipped to Hamilton, Ontario for assembly as Canadian Cubs?
There were quite a few J2's & J3's assembled in Hamilton from American built parts. Later Canadian built Cubs were manufactured and assembled in Hamilton under the Prospector name.
Any information about these early days of Canadian Cubs being assembled in Hamilton Ontario would be much appreciated.
