Get a used servicable McCauley 1B90 CM7443 from a 65hp J3 and repitch it to 40. That prop is
common, relatively inexpensive, and repitch will be about $200-$250 US. Do NOT overhaul it.With
    a closed co...

Harry, as an aside, I recommend replacement of gascolator to carb inlet fuel line to an heat
resistant aircraft style hose and end fittings and in particular eliminate the low slump area
    that can coll...

Thanks Guys!Richard if you say cruise in a J3 will be slow with a 78 prop, I am afraid that I
might be going backwards!Jim, thanks for the feedback on the tip speed formula. As I suspected
    its more c...

The pump I used was this one from Holley. Was the highest flow rate one I could find here in
    South Africa.

Thanks Jim and Richard. My calculations regarding tip speed might then be incorrect. My
assumption was that you want to be at max 0.9mach tip speed to ensure efficient prop.
    Calculation is Vt= Diam x ...

I faced the same issue and in the end built a trolley for a 200L drum with a 12v fuel pump and
filter. Works pretty well. Built in soft start charger so when not in use, stands next to power
    socket on...

Thanks for all the replies so far. My cub already has a closed cowl and non std (C150 style)
exhaust system. So the looks of the 4-1 exhaust wont bother me too much as its closed. Will
    design new cowl...

Unless NRprop has a new design, not wise to use on direct drive high power pulse engines like
the 0-200. A beautiful propeller, but read the fine print. Re performance, expect more than 110
    hp dependi...

Good day,By way of introduction, I am from South Africa and have an experimental Cub clone that
was built in Poland in the early 2000s. It has an O-200 and a 74-42 wood prop that was made
    here in SA....
