Default Federal 1500 Installation Data

I have a Cub. I have a pair of Federal 1500s. I need rigging and installation instructions. Any source?

Thanks,

Bruce

Default Federal 1500 Install

I am also looking for documents for installing my Federal 1500 skis. Any help with locating these documents? I can't express how grateful I am for this resource!

First ski installation requires doing by an A&P or IA who will make log book entry and W&B revision. After that, the plane owner can uninstall and re-install as needed just like changing tires. First change out original gear bolts to longer bolts. Front bolt, castle nut faces forward. Bolts will be extra long so several washers can be added between the gear fitting and the ski cable tab. Tab must be free to align without hitting the front gear fitting reinforcement. Now remove wheels and install brake band (see more below). Note there is a left and right ski and they are NOT factory marked. Correct (please confirm this with your mechanic) placement is the ski bottom more flat when ski is suspended. Think of outside edge tire wear. Touchdown is on outside edge and then tire/ski splays out for straight ahead tracking. The other item mentioned above is a brake band cover to protect and hold the brake blocks firmly in place. The real deal is a full width steel band with tabs/flanges that overlaps and is held tight with two #8 machine screws through the tabs/flanges. There are no brakes with skis installed, but this is easy to forget when the plane swerves. We instinctively apply both rudder and brake. The band keeps the brake bladder from bursting. Google aeroski.net for specifics. Ski harness cable with correct tabs can be purchased.
